Emergency Preparedness is a Year-Round Effort

Although September is National Emergency Preparedness Month, emergency preparedness is a YEAR-ROUND effort.  Here at the National Self-Reliance Project, we get to learn first-hand from “Preppers” all over America and even the world.  They too never stop learning.  They’re always improving their plans, updating their supplies, and collaborating with each other to learn more and develop a stronger community. They don’t do this only for themselves and their families but also they do this to help educate and prepare their communities.

With the unprecedented number of natural disasters that we have experienced over the past couple of months, it is imperative that we all heed the warning that we could be next. It has been said that “preparedness is the only way to combat a natural disaster.”

Based upon where you live and work, what is the natural disaster that you are most likely to experience?

  • Fire
  • Tornados
  • Hurricanes
  • Floods
  • Land Slides
  • Earthquakes
  • Blizzards
  • Ice Storms
  • Hail

We each have a choice.  We can “wait-and-see” mixed with a little fear, or we can prepare mixed with a whole lot of peace-of-mind. What are you going to choose? How does your choice affect those who depend upon you?

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Benjamin Franklin
