The AgWay: Student proposal, City Planning Innovations, Autumn 2009

The AgWay is a proposed corridor running from I-270 to downtown Columbus, Ohio. It reuses an abandoned railroad right-of-way for a bike trail. The extra width in the right-of-way is used for community gardening and urban farming. Also, nearby vacant lots are reborn as urban farms. The AgWay will provide a bicycle route for commuting and recreation, a source of fresh produce in neighborhoods where convenience food dominates, and reinvestment in long-neglected areas of Columbus.
